Join us for our 3 day yarn retreat on the stunning Giants Causeway

3 day Yarn Retreat, if you enjoy time spent away in the company of other yarn people, learning new skills and taking in the surroundings. This may be for you! Our weekend is very relaxed, everyone brings their own projects and we also bring looms and wheels for anyone interested in learning spinning or weaving, we also provide short sampler sessions in a range of textile art disciplines such as felting or embroidery, or we can help you with tricky knitting or crochet techniques. Before we go we set up a WhatsApp group to allow the group to chat in advance and we find out if there’s anything you’d really like to learn while you’re there, that way everyone can have the chance to get what they want from the weekend.

Where and when?

If you'd like to explore the Giant’s Causeway, you can’t stay any closer than the Causeway Hotel. During your stay, you can discover this UNESCO World Heritage site for free – all from the comfortable base of this Grade II listed hotel.

The story of the Causeway Hotel began in 1836, when Miss Elizabeth Henry built the hotel, creating the first place for travellers to stay overlooking the famous rock formations.

Today, you can still enjoy this dramatic landscape from the comfort of the Causeway Hotel, their full website is The Causeway Hotel

The dates we are currently booking for are:

Friday 19th April 2024 - Sunday 21st April 2024

Friday 13th September - Sunday 15th September 2024

Additional Information

Accessibility: The hotel does not currently have a fully accessible room for wheelchair users, although this is planned for 2024. Due to the age of the building and it’s listed status, there is no lift. All rooms are upstairs and there is a chair lift. If you have mobility issues we can also request that you be given the room immediately beside the chair lift to avoid additional steps upstairs. All areas we use otherwise which are downstairs are accessible.

We divide the conference room into a section for those taking part in workshops and a section for those that just wish to have a space available to work on their own projects, ensuring social distancing can be maintained if needs be. The hotel has a bar with evening entertainment.

Bookings can be secured either by payment plan or in full at time of booking. The suggested payment plan is £150 deposit per person at time of booking, with the remainder split over 1 or 2 instalments and due to be paid in full by the end of the month before the retreat date. Bookings are non refundable, should something unforeseen arise and you/your party can no longer attend we will maintain a waiting list and if we are able to resell your space/s on your behalf we will. You will then be offered a refund minus reasonable admin/card processing costs.

In light of Covid-19 booking the retreats constitute an element of financial risk for us, but we do want to be as fair and flexible as we can be because we know trips such as this are important for people at this time. If the hotel has to close for Covid related reasons your booking will be transferred to an alternative suitable date and we will be in touch with you to discuss options available.

If you are interested in attending as a group we can arrange to have your group accommodated together. We may be able to come up with accommodation arrangements to suit groups of 3, 4 or more, please let us know your needs and we will work with the hotel to see what is possible for your group.

Inspiring Yarns is a Not For Profit Community Interest Company registered in Northern Ireland (NI676244). Any profits we make from hosting events such as this retreat will be reinvested in our organisation to provide services to support people with mental health needs across Ireland and the UK.

If you are travelling from outside NI and have any questions about the area please do get in touch with us hello@inspiringyarns.co.uk

There is free parking at the hotel for guests, if necessary we can also make arrangements to meet guests in Bushmills or Portrush if travelling by public transport and will experience difficulty in getting to the hotel site.
