What we do

We are a Social Enterprise, this means we operate like any other business but any profits we make running events or in shop sales go towards supporting a social purpose.

Our social purpose is to:

  • Improve mental health and wellbeing.

  • Reduce social isolation.

  • Promote and maintain heritage yarn and textile-based skills.

  • Promote, develop and support training and employment opportunities in yarn and textile disciplines.

Why?

Everyone involved in our organisation knows the many positive benefits of yarn crafts. We have all worked in the yarn industry and have a wealth of experience in being self-employed. We know these jobs suit people who need to work around mental health conditions or other care responsibilities because they have worked for us. We know from lived experience that taking part in these activities can boost confidence, improve feelings of self-worth, and are an excellent way to make new friends and develop support networks in your community.

Many yarn and textile-based skills are classed as heritage crafts and we think it is so important to keep these alive through sharing skills and experiences, we firmly believe in working collaboratively to reach as many people as possible.

Our Mission and Vision

Mission Statement: We exist to connect people of all ability levels to heritage craft activities which will be engaging and provided within a safe learning environment.

Vision Statement: To establish well connected community groups, who thrive on improved mental health and wellbeing, where provided training and employment opportunities in heritage and textile skills allow creative people to fulfil their potential.
